I have a passion for craft beer. I have helped friends with their homebrew over the years and even enjoyed the opportunity to assist Master Cicerone Rich Higgins brew a batch at Social Kitchen Brewery in San Francisco. As a quality system auditor and microbiologist, I find myself advising brewing operations on an impromptu basis; there is a great deal of overlap between medical device operations and brewery operations.
I am continually amazed at the camaraderie of those in the craft beer industry. To further combine my passion and my career, in 2013 I attended (and thoroughly enjoyed) the week-long Intensive Brewing Science for Practical Brewing course at UC Davis, taught by the beer-quality legends Charles Bamforth, PhD and Michael Lewis, PhD.
If you are part of a brewery interested in developing your quality system (or wondering if you need a quality system), or if you need supplier audits, please contact me for some free or discounted consulting.
